Design decisions on a construction project narrow gradually: broad inspiration first, then a short list of directions, then finishes and fixtures specific enough to order and install. The expensive mistake is skipping the narrowing and jumping straight to a single choice, because changing a finish on paper costs nothing and changing it after installation costs real money and time. A homeowner who hasn't compared real alternatives side by side often can't tell whether they actually prefer a choice or simply haven't seen a better one yet.
A good digital design tool makes that narrowing visible and fast: it shows real options side by side, tracks what someone consistently prefers, and produces a defensible shortlist instead of a single AI-generated image that looks nice but doesn't reflect anyone's actual taste. It should also make the reasoning visible — why one option won out over another — so the shortlist holds up on a second look, not just a first impression.
Autotelic's Concept Studio runs that narrowing as a swipe tournament: cards for a category go head-to-head in brackets, a person — or, in autopilot mode, the AI itself — picks a winner each round, and pinned favorites carry forward. Research and uploaded inspiration images feed the same tournament, and every card image is selected by a vision model rather than hand-curated one at a time.
That tournament runs today across many project types, live for a home remodel, A/V categories like control systems, smart home, and home theater, and commercial interiors. It is dark for ADU projects specifically — there is no seed inventory of ADU-specific cards yet, so an ADU handoff into Concept Studio can land on a coming-soon state rather than a working tournament, and that gap is shown here as it is, not hidden.
